Day 1 –
10:30 a.m. Depart via car east to Blue Water Bridge. Cross into Canada, drive to New Hamburg, Ontario via back roads (abandon Google directions). See Canadian countryside, go through construction, take lots of pictures.
5:30 p.m. Check in to Puddicombe House (receive free upgrade to room with king bed and jacuzzi tub).
6:00 p.m. Depart for Stratford, Ontario.
6:30 p.m. Picnic at carved stone table and bench with view of field.
7:00 p.m. Arrive at Loreena McKennitt concert venue, Knox Presbyterian Church.
8:00 p.m. Attend amazing concert with beautiful music and talented musicians.
11:30 p.m. Go to sleep.
Day 2 –
8:00 a.m. Wake up, etc.
9:00 a.m. Have breakfast at your b&b: egg flatbread with charred zuccini, eggplant, red onion, red pepper, and aged cheddar with cup of fresh berries.
10:00 a.m. Depart for Toronto.
11:30 a.m. Arrive at Humber College Lakeshore Campus, receive free parking pass even though check-in isn’t until 4 p.m.
12:00 p.m. Take trolley car (streetcar) to Queen West (shopping district). Visit Kind Exchange thrift store and buy chic Canadian thrifty clothes. Visit chococrepe and consume delectable lunch.
2:30 p.m. Take bus to Casa Loma. Stroll in, just in time for last tour at 4:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. Take subway to High Park. Marvel that the park is so big in the middle of the city that coyotes are native to it. Walk the labyrinth.
6:30 p.m. Take streetcar back to Humber College, check in, eat tacos in dorm room kitchenette, go to sleep.
Day 3 –
9:00 a.m. Drive via Lakeshore Boulevard to The Distillery. Wander. Shop. Visit Soma Chocolatemaker and drool a little while purchasing goodies to take home. Resist the urge to buy gelato for breakfast.
10:54 a.m. Drive to India Bazaar. Buy samosas and bhajias, window shop for saris and jewelry, ask Indian shopkeeper who god in photo is (Lord Vishnu, because of the lotus). Purchase tubes of henna to take home.
12:00 p.m. Drive to Niagara Falls via Don River Parkway / Gardiner Expressway / QEW. Get stuck in traffic jam, turning 1 hour trip into 3 hours.
3:00 p.m. Visit Niagara Falls, weaving in and out of crowds composed of everybody and their grandmothers.
4:00 p.m. Drive home, through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana, just for a change of pace.
12:00 a.m. Arrive and collapse! Dream of editing pictures of your 1000-mile adventure.
